This year has been a heck of a year for the ambulance. Between sugar in the gas tank--still working on that one--and multiple calls every week for treatment of scorpion stings, I'm already in the process of organizing much needed upcoming fundraisers for the ambulance. Here's an idea: remember the old Christmas tree Fiesta we used to have, where people created Christmas trees and other decorations and we all bid on the items while eating wonderful appetizers? Well, what about a Valentine Fiesta? It would not be on Valentines Day, but a couple days before, so you can shop for your sweetie. If we all donate things we'd like to receive on Valentine's Day--jewelry, hearts, fishing gear--just anything--we can have a silent auction to bid on the things you want. I'm posting this now so that people can bring things down with them when they come to La Manz in the next few months.
In the meantime, I've been working with Kapital, the bank that replaced Intercam, and we can once again receive donations using our new clabe. If you are interested in donating--please, please, please--send me your email and I'll snd you an instruction sheet provided by the bank. Also, you can use WISE, a service many people have had success with. Please support our community ambulance. We save lives!

Hi Jeanne, La Catalina Foundation hosts its annual fundraiser on the third Saturday of February. We have done this for over 18 years and it is our only fundraiser. I know how important it is to support each others community efforts but I would be concerned with you having a fundraiser just before our NIGHT UNDER THE STARS evening. The Bocce Ball is usually the end of January and I worry that the addition of a Valentines event would impact the success of La Catalina’s fundraiser. I hope you will reconsider this idea.
