After 32 years of peace and feeling completely safe, we experienced a break-in on Thursday night while we were all asleep in our rooms. The intruder entered even though some of our outdoor lights were on. They came in through the back screen door of one room and took jewelry and our guest’s fanny pack, which was later found on the lawn with the cash missing. (The guests were only a few feet away and asleep.)
We believe the person was on foot or on a motorbike, and we suspect there may have been two people involved. A month earlier, two men came to the door while my daughter was in the shower, but our dog scared them off. We have also had various workers at our home recently, so it’s possible someone became familiar with the property.
I’m sharing this because we have always felt safe here, and it’s important that everyone stays alert and keeps an eye out. Fortunately, some of our cameras were working, and we have now installed additional ones. I’m posting a photo of our guest’s stolen bracelet; if anyone recognizes it or has any information, please let us know. A police report has been filed.
