Vehicle Plates and Registration

Good afternoon, We purchased a car (2009 Jetta) with Nayarit plates. The Nayarit plates are in the process of being cancelled. Can someone please tell me the name of the closest place to get Jalisco plates and transfer the car into my name?

Any helpful hints would also be welcome.

Make sure you have all the papers from inception on the vehicle and proof of payment for all past years in Nayarit. Good luck!

Kathlj - if I were in your situation, I would seek the assistance of Tia Richardson (315) 125-3200 and/or Omar (315) 100-7068 to shepherd me through the process. Your registration task may not be very simple.

I just went through this process because I bought a car in Manzanillo (Colima) and needed to get it plated for Jalisco. First I had to make an appointment. Then, as Spencer said, you need all the past payments made in Nayarit, your passport and your most current electric bill. YOUR name must be on the electric bill. You may get sent to get copies or other paperwork. I wound up going through the line 4 times before I got it right! Good luck!

Thank you all. Do you have a link for where I make an appointment? I didn't know Tia did this work. I've had a facilitator for two months, but I leave for the US next week, and I'm running out of time, so I need to be sure I understand the process.

Thank you all! I contacted Omar, and he helped me through this, even driving with me to Villa Purifación for my appointment. I doubt I would have successfully walked away with plates without him.
