Re: How do you actually buy bitcoin?
Yeah I bit the bullet and started figuring out how to use crypto a few months ago. I knew about bitcoin back in like 2014 (around whenever "Dogecoin" became a reddit meme) but it seemed too confusing at the time. Had I taken the time back then to figure it out I'd be sitting pretty now, but it's not too late! even though bitcoin is pretty widely known now it's still far from mainstream adoption, so there's still room for it to grow. So while it's too late to make the kinds of gains I could have got back then, i'm not going to complain about whatever I get out of it now. I haven't explored trading much. So it's kind of become like a savings account with a really bizarre interest rate. the price changes massively all the time so if you pay attention you can take advantage of that. the crash that happened most recently was a much bigger one than usual, but definitely not unheard of at all. The biennial "halving" event is occurring in about 2 weeks which will undoubtedly result in massive fluctuations of some sort, so it would definitely be good to get in before then.
Install exodus wallet. most versatile wallet I've seen (desktop, mobile, even hardware USB pairing with Trezor wallets if you want to be extra extra secure) and easy to use for a noob. Always send any crypto that you buy to a personal wallet.
As for actually buying the crypto there are lots of sites for that. you just have to do a bit of research to make sure the exchange is legit. I think Coinbase is the most popular site in the US. I have no experience with using it cus it doesn't work for Canadians so I use an app called Shakepay which works great. I send them an e-transfer from my bank, then the money appears on the app, and I can buy either bitcoin or etherium (only 2 options on that particular app), then I send it to the exodus wallet where it stays.
