Howards End is one of my favorite books, so I don't think the movie really does justice, but it's a good attempt. All of that holds for Remains Of The Day too. It's a little bit more straightforward of a story so that might help, though I don't know if "livelier" is the word I'd use. The only other Merchant Ivory I've seen is Room With A View, which might be my favorite of the three (it benefits from the source material being a little more comic).
I don't know if I totally loved First Reformed, but I've thought about it more than a lot of other movies from the last few years. Definitely striking. I was fine with the ending, though the random "flying" scene worked less well for me.
Was Kate Bosworth ever in a good movie? I guess Remember The Titans was fine. I never saw Still Alice.
