Pussed out? What, does GRRM make him sing that Depeche Mode song that goes "hey you're such a pretty boy, you're so pretty!"? Sansa weeping over dead Theon really seemed like bad writing. AV Club compared him to Charlie Brown repeatedly missing the football. I don't get the pathetic Star Wars logic that charging the Night King and losing redeems him for torching 2 innocent anonymous farmboys and then kicking a guy's head off just to make himself look tough.
Pedro Pascal gives funny interviews and played the character with a lot of flamboyant edge. "I am a prince, boy" is the show's funniest line and it's the right kind of funny!
The Shireen thing wasn't the show's low point because it was horrible but because it crossed the line into gratuitous lurid True Dectective type schlock. Once you saw that little Shireen was a)deformed and b)totally sweet and friendly it was stupidly obvious she would die horribly, and killing her accomplished nothing besides getting Melisandre out of the way for awhile (or making a lamely obvious point about religious superstition leading to senseless violence) only to have Davos bitch her out later for what she did, a lame scene where he might as well have been wagging his finger at someone in a dunce cap.
