Sitting on the Iron Throne just turns one into a prick, a bit of generic anti-authoritarianism on Martin's part lifted wholesale from Dune. If you're implying that these people have nothing better to do than kill each other over the Throne then that's part and parcel of the same point.
The moviechat (ex IMDb) board for GOT is almost nothing but repetitive complaints about the ending and Danaerys, with people trying to cite actual psychologists to claim that her slaughtering civilians was bad writing. Having Dany turn heel makes sense for GOT, but her decision was split second and only had emotional impact in the way Charlie Brown having the football yanked away from him does.
Jon is clearly an Aragorn figure but Aragorn wasn't a husk.
How obvious an LORT ripoff is someone presenting the show's history as "A Song Of Ice And Fire" at the end? Why jot just have Samwell Gamgee, er, Tarly weeping his eyes out as Jon goes back to the Night's Watch, which shouldn't even exist anymore?
You'd wonder why those Faceless Man people hadn't taken over the world yet.
Old coots like Brienne or something?
I do not dislike the show overall--it's more good than bad. I'm just discussing Wha Wen Wong with the show because that's more interesting than gushing.
