If Martin had any "messages" for the viewers, I didn't really pick up on them. Doesn't really seem like he has an agenda in that regard beyond the age old "absolute power etc etc" trope which just seems standard for this type of story. His main concern just seems to be entertaining storytelling and he mostly succeeds in that department IMO.
Re: the IMDB board- ok I was wrong. Thanks for reminding me of why this is still the only message I read/post on.
Had to Google "Aragorn" and though I never read any of the LOTR books (aside from "The Hobbit", if that counts) but um he seemed pretty "husky" in the movies. And whatever similarities there are between LOTR and GoT don't really matter to me. I wouldn't disagree with anyone pointing out how Martin had ripped off Tolkien but I sure enjoyed GoT far more than any of the LOTR movies.
