"Me And My Charms" is from Hersh's solo debut which is good but not an ideal place to start, since it's almost an hour long and mainly just her and her acoustic guitar. Though I think writing her off as just another angsty 90's songwriter does her a disservice- she generally takes a pretty unique and unpredictable approach and as for the angst, well she comes by it honestly (she's battled some pretty serious mental health issues for most of her life).
I noticed somebody (AMG?) refer to TM as "college rock" and it made me realize that, despite stiff competition, that may be the single stupidest and most worthless musical subgenre term of all time. Good on RYM for not even recognizing the term as a subgenre (though I guess it's often used interchangeably with "jangle pop" which frankly isn't much better).
