Classic example of the brief disaster film revival that took place during the 90's. This is one of the better ones (not that that's saying much), mainly because the cast is a step above what this type of film usually had to offer and the characters are a bit more "colorful". Okay, they may seem a bit cartoony but at least they're not just some anonymous figures being sucked into oblivion by a tornado. Gets *really* stupid at times but that's kinda part of the appeal.
Guess this has something of a cult following because of the satirical elements but this ain't no "Robocop". Satire or not, at its heart this is still a stupid action flick. A relatively entertaining one, sure, but let's not go assigning importance to every film that exhibits awareness of its own ridiculousness, people.
