Maybe people may argue that the writers portray Mariner the character as anti-Trek but that doesnít mean that the writer Is anti-Trek but itís not like they portray her attitude in a negative light or something that she can learn and improve on
On the episodes I watched she seems to enjoy helping people on their missions and meeting aliens from other cultures. She's just too cool for school because she's rebelling against her parents. But this doesn't really work, because her attitude is immature but she's right about everything all the time. The main characters are supposed to get some sort of arc so I guess something is going to change? Really I just think she's annoying as #### and so hard to watch that it's hard to care.
You liked that youtube parody channel that Paramount shut down (I liked it too but now I can't remember the title). I can imagine people liking The Lower Decks and finding that youtube show offensive.
Also, many of the other fan opinions I've seen found the fourth episode disappointing but the general reaction was much milder than yours. On the other hand, people agreed about the fifth episode. Personally I feel like we were set up to not care about people in the first episode when a "hilarious" zombie apocalypse killed a large portion of the crew. I guess that could be parodying stuff like the end of TNG's Genesis, where Troi and Crusher are cracking jokes at the end of the episode, seemingly unphased by the loss of the crew member Worf killed.
Maybe it's time for you to give up on the franchise? You're now on the fourth series that you don't like. Do you like the Animated Series? If so that's the only thing keeping the TV series' in the black (going by number of series, obviously the older shows have more total episodes right now). I really don't think there's any chance of new series that either of us is going to like any time the foreseeable future.
Are you still watching The Orville? I tried that but I just thought it was too lightweight.
Did I post this before?
