I'll take it a step further:
I hate those 3 Syd songs before "Bike" so much that I never bothered checking out his solo career at all; their awfulness so overwhelmed my admiration for his good Floyd songs that I just couldn't be bothered to investigate his catalog. No but seriously I hate the lazy melodies in the verses and the goofy lyrics and the vocal hooks ("he stood in a field where barley grows!") and just the overall atmosphere of those tunes. I don't mind kiddie songs if they're done well (see "Bike"), but these aren't for me. If they were subbed out for the early singles (in every version I mean) it would be a great album for sure.
I kinda like Yorke's singing on every song, tbh, so that never really stood out to me on that one. The lyrics are among their cringiest since the first album.
