I'm so depressed to admit this, but I like "Love Walks In." Dunno why--I don't think it's really a "power ballad." I like the minor key verses and the big anthemic finale. I remember George tearing really hard into it. All I like on 5150 though is that and "5150," and that's supposed to be a huge bestseller and the one Van Hagar album one is most likely to enjoy even if they don't like Sammy Hagar.
But it is true that the band, by 1986, sounded much more "80s" than they had and as such, Ted Templeman's production has aged FAR better. I got into VH's first album in 2000 and thought it had aged perfectly, 22 years since its release. Now we're almost 22 years away from that.
Shoot me in the head for this too but I also kind of like Asia's ridiculously bombastic "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes."
