Re: 2 books, 7 movies, 8 albums
I always liked The Song Remains the Same because I liked the performance, although like everyone else I made fun of the fantasy sequences. I also thought some of the visual gimmicks, like the mirror effects, were goofy. I hadn't watched or listened to it in a long time so I just replayed No Quarter, The Song Remains the Same, and The Rain Song to make sure that I still liked the performances and these weren't just fanboy memories. They all held up, I think it's a good concert, although they did release better live albums later. The longer version of the album has also made the movie less valuable so I'll probably never bother to pick it up on DVD. But I'll still stick up for the music. In particular I am very fond of that version of No Quarter. I could do without Moby Dick though.
