On the other hand, I love a lot of Fleetwood Mac albums, but is it useful to talk about one band that includes both the Bob Welch era and the Buckingham/Nicks one?
Does Blows Against The Empire count as a Jefferson Airplane album? It's got as much of the core lineup as Jefferson Airplane Takes Off or Bark, after all.
And then you get Alice Cooper (was a band, then a solo artist), Tune-Yards (was a solo artist, then a band), The Streets (name suggests a band but it's actually one person), etc. I prefer to just take the Foucaultian approach and think of them all as "author functions", i.e. the names that show up on the covers of the albums.
