Mallarme's definitely talented
His placement on my list has more to do with personal preference- apparently he was a boisterous, intellectual social butterfly and that comes across in his work which is often celebratory and dense, sometimes taking the form of a scene or monologue from a play. But the imagery is typically hard to pin down and comes off as somewhat masturbatory. I prefer stuff that cuts to the bone, typically written by emotionally broken loners. To each their own, I suppose. But I'd still definitely recommend giving Baudelaire another shot.
