Re: just a few movies
No Christmas movies? Even seen Remember the Night? I just rewatched that one. 1940, scripted by Preston Sturges, Barbara Stanwyck shoplifts on Christmas Eve, Fred MacMurry is the prosecutor but ends up taking her to spend the holiday with his family. It's one of the greatest Christmas movies. Everything about it is great except some cringey scenes with a black servant at the beginning that probably kept it off network TV back when the used to show movies this old, so that's probably why it isn't better known. I've heard of some of director Mitchell Leisen's other movies but I've never seen them (except some Twilight Zone episodes) but this makes me want to.
Of the stuff you watched, I've seen Gattaca. I think it's decent but it has an inflated reputations among SF fans who want real science fiction even if it's real inspired film making.
Is Stephen King's name in the credits for Thinner? That was a "Richard Bachman" book.
