There’s considerable variation in the bass line that focusing on that while the riff is repeating itself is interesting.
I don’t consider repeating a chord progression or a riffwhile there is an extended soloing by a guitar to be repetitious and I consider that that example as essentially bass soloing. I don’t really consider that example counts
Hey Jude counts though although the strength of the vocal melody is so strong i can kinda forgive it. However it wouldn’t be in my all time favorite Beatles song list though.
In terms of Refkoner I have complain about 3 minute pop song in terms of length so 5 minutes is still long.
In terms of the riff being built upon, there’s a reason why I said the Reckoned was mediocre instead of bad. The contrast of the”before we separate” is good and some development when the groove return. However I think it drags out before it reach that point
Saying that I haven’t listen to reckoner since I have been listening to more groove base music. Maybe I have become more forgiving I generally been giving groove base rwpetitive songs a pass mark if I like the groove or the vocal melodies.
