Post Get-yer-ya-ya live album. Rolling Stones live performance become almost unlistenable for me because Jagger doesn’t really sing, hit the notes and becomes an exaggerated parody of ‘rock and roll’ singer.
Listening to Ladies and gentleman, Brussel affairs, some girls live in Texas, Steel wheel live concerts. Jagger shows inability to hit the notes. He performance is more of rock and roll posturing and barking rather than singing.
What makes Jagger great is when he synthesise that rock and roll attitude with some level of professionalism. By focusing on the former and excluding the latter his live performance becomes a self parody
Saying that though 60’s live albums were fine (Live In England 1965 is probably the best live album of the decade and is revelatory in presenting the cover era of The Stones) as well as his 90’s live album. So he is capable of singing properly in a live environment but I suspect he needs to really rehearse a lot to produce a decent performance and is susceptible to coasting it
