Underwater Moonlight is the classic. A Can of Bees is a lot heavier on the Beefheart influence and is a little harder to listen to. There's lots of good stuff scattered around their discography, their was a collection called Invisible Hits but they seem to have put it all on bonus tracks for the standard albums. The extra tracks on Underwater Moonlight are pretty high quality but the bonus disc is not. Live at the Portland Arms is a very entertaining acoustic/barbershop album with lots of bizarre banter.
I saw the guy from Harvey Danger open for Robyn Hitchcock maybe 10 years ago.
