Music Babble

I first saw footage from MDM in a documentary about David Gulpilil who is the aborigine guy from Walkabout, he said Hopper was terrifying. Hopper was also whacked out on dope on Apocalypse Now and God knows where his mind was in The Outsider four years later, he looks like a broken down homeless old man in that movie. Supposedly he told David Lynch "I've got to play Frank, because I AM Frank."

The American Dreamer comes up if you search for TLM on Youtube; I'm going to skip it because the 2-disc DVD of TLM that I got for Christmas has more than decent supplemental features and I don't really care for the movie anyway. His Dick Cavett interview at the time where he looks like David Crosby was moderately lucid (I'm guessing Cavett's old interviews with rock stars and counterculture figures are the most watched of all Cavett clips.)

Note about Hopper becoming conservative later: in spite of being part of the hippie crowd he always LOVED John Wayne (he has a small part in the 1969 True Grit.)
