Diver Down is a silly album that they hacked out as quickly as possible because Warner Bros. forced them to (since "(Oh) Pretty Woman" was a hit), but it's sort of amusing all the same. I actually like it better than II or Women And Children First and it's certainly more interesting as a "quickie" album than, say, Smiley Smile. "Cathedral" and "Intruder" are pretty cool songs at least.
"Why Can't This Be Love?" is a song I've kind of hated for years, but seeing it dead last on that list sort of made me want to defend it. "Love Walks In" is a stupid song but sort of a guilty pleasure.
"Tattoo" was perfectly catchy! Second worst my ass!! "Source Of Infection" I kind of liked as far as synth tunes go. "China Town," too. "As Is," I liked that one. "The Dream Is Over," I liked. Screw this list!
I'm not sure what I'd pick for worst. Their classic albums have no songs that I hate. I'll defend OU812 quite a bit too, easily the best Hagar album. F.U.C.K. seems to be universally disliked now but I didn't really mind it. I don't remember any songs off of Balance AT ALL so I guess I should pick "How Many Say I," the song sung by Eddie? That's what popped into my head. I notice that every Van Halen III song is at the bottom, which I *guess* makes sense, but makes the list not so fun to read.
Dave Davies dislikes the "You Really Got Me" cover? Well...screw him! It's awesome! I don't get why "Feel Your Love Tonight" is rated so high.
I don't hate "Humans Being" but I'm STUNNED they were nice to it--didn't the band get snarled at for that one back in 1996 before the MTV awards publicity disaster that was effectively the beginning of the end for them? Or was it after?
"Jump" isn't in the top 10. I didn't know Roth directed the video. That said, I really haven't bothered watching many of their videos--having every video available on Youtube has actually soured me on watching music videos, when pre-Youtube I would have KILLED to see the clips for my favorite songs!
Well at least "D. O. A." was high up, that's become one of my very favorites recently. For decades "Runnin' With The Devil," which got me into the band completely and instantaneously, was my favorite song by them. Now it's "Girl Gone Bad," the most musically interesting song they ever did, which I'm still addicted to and which is at...number...uhhh....SIXTY?!?!?
SCREW THIS LIST UP ITS TURN FLUME!!!
