Meant to respond to your What's Spinning post:
-I wish Hendrix's sister would just put his music on YouTube already. One of the last holdouts... I'll get off my rear end and break out my personal laptop so I can DL Maui.
-Not super familiar with that Toots release. Aside from Funky Kingston, In the Dark, Sweet and Dandy, and Monkey Man, I haven't done much close listening of the catalog.
And as for your above reggay post, yeah, Scratch was on such a massive run during that period. All those albums you named are indeed classics. I can't quibble with any of the other records you mentioned (though I'm not familiar with that Yabby You record ... his discog is a bit impenetrable with all the reissues/changed-up track listings, etc., though that's an issue with many of the non-Bob artists in the genre)...
Here's a couple of me own reggay recs:
(love this tune)
Freddie McGregor - Bobby Bobylon is a nice LP. You probably already know it... really well produced roots release (a booming bass sound that you don't always get outside of dub stuff) and a consistently smooth and soulful vibe.
