The AMG (and they suck) gave their "new" album a good review. But based upon the description I read about it, the record sounds pretty lame.
I'm an American nerd who became a Midnight Oil fan because my parents bought a new car back in 1988, and my mom read Rolling Stone magazine, Midnight Oil got good reviews, and the car had at tape deck. The tapes were "Red Sails In the Sunset" and "Diesel and Dust." I loved their music to death.
My preppy little brother, on the other hand, liked to make fun of their old, ugly singer, and their mid-tempo music.
By the time I was in college (2000's), I bought most of their albums and became a super-fan. My girlfriend at the time liked them too. (She loved New Wave and Synth-Pop music.)
I missed my one chance to see them in Seattle, in 2001 I think. (I lived in central Washington.) But I was going through a lot of personal shit at the time.
George (a Russian) approached their collection in order. And he liked the early albums the best. Back When the Oils used to RAWK!!!
In recent times, I still played "Lucky Country" and "Run by Night" on the jukebox at my local tavern. (Before the COVID-19.)
