While you're reviewing 30-year-old ephemera - have you ever heard of the movie Motorama? It's this mostly-forgotten early-90s unclassifiable thing, with a 10-year-old boy driving across an alternate version of the USA trying to collect a bunch of tokens at gas stations, hiding from cops, getting brutalized by various weirdos - there are appearances from Jack Nance, Flea, Meat Loaf. Same writer as After Hours (maybe) and Vampire's Kiss. God knows what audience they anticipated for it.
Did you ever read Patricia Lockwood's article on Updike? I thought it was great, not that I've read Updike - made me interested in him and repulsed by him.
