I definitely agree with THIS.
I'm a fan of both shows but I like TNG more, partially because I've been a fan longer, but also because while both shows were frankly always kind of spotty, I find DS9s spottiness to be more frustrating. In TNG the lesser episodes are just worse versions of the better episodes. DS9 trends great to good when it stays closer to the onging threads that make the core of the series, but the episodes that stray further from that are frequently not very good.
I only truly became a fan of DS9 when I could watch it on streaming. Before that I'd gone back and forth on it. I followed it for part of the original run and got really into it before losing interest. Sometimes it was plagued by a weird schedule for release of new episodes. Look at the release dates for season 6:
Weekly from Sept 29-Nov 24, then no new episodes until January 1 & 8, then weekly again from Feb. 4 through March 4, then no new episodes until April 1, and then another break after May 20 (the third to last episode of the season) and it comes back on June 10 for two more episodes. WTF? It made it hard for the show to sustain momentum.
