I find Wire to be really boring- maybe they're too punky for me but folks act like they're really exciting and unique and I don't hear it at all.
Wonder how many PiL fans are well versed in classic krautrock because IMO that stuff basically makes PiL redundant even if the first 2 albums do have their moments.
I didn't include The Birthday Party because I was listing albums and all I've heard from them is a comp but they definitely belong on a list like this- better than the early Bad Seeds stuff IMO.
Talking Heads are sort of a strange case where they basically changed from post punk to new wave after the first 3 albums, even if they straddled that fence from the very beginning, before new wave was really a thing- guess a case could be made that they were one of the fathers of the subgenre. But I guess since they released more new wave albums than post punk albums they probably belong in the new wave category, though there seems to be some overlap between the 2 (lots of albums on Nick's list seem more new wave than post punk to me).
