The premise is idiotic and the fact that they even communicating with them is wrong and violation of prime directive as you mention before
However I like that they didnít engage in moral relativity, there was no question that interfering to save Wesley would have been wrong. Rather whether they were risk the entire ship and crew from the god alien to save Wesley was the dilemma.
I probably give it a 3-4/10 instead of 1-2/10 like most people
What I find obnoxious about Nemesis breaking the prime directive. Is that there was pre-warp civilisation and they just arrive on the planet with zero precautions and ride around in dune buggies and them start shooting and killing the native population. Even if it was self defence, Picard would probably question in situation like this whether they have a moral right to even defend to kill native population in situation like this
