Re: BCS and my movies
All I really ask for from movies in franchises like Batman and Star Wars is a few memorable parts that feel genuinely exciting and don't feel like something I've seen before. In that respect, I think Dark Knight and Last Jedi hold up fine - sure, the plots of each are fairly labored and there's some subplots that don't really go anywhere, but each had a few bits I liked a lot (basically anything with Heath Ledger in the first and with Rey/Kylo in the second) so I'm happy to ignore the other stuff. I think both are also pretty good-looking movies.
The Force Awakens is possibly a better movie than A New Hope, but it's hard to get excited about something that's so obvious a retread. Haven't seen the newest one, and probably won't bother unless it's on a plane sometime.
Batman Begins was fine I think, but the only thing I really remember from it was Cillian Murphy saying "He's here... the BatMan!" which I suspect was the best part of the movie. The Dark Knight Rises was just rubbish.
