There are so many of those UK punk bands that I've heard only a little bit from, and they all kind of blend together. I'll have to check out that Adverts album, I remember liking "Gary Gilmore's Eyes". I think I like some Damned stuff too but haven't heard them in years.
I do like the first two Buzzcocks albums. Different Kind Of Tension is pretty weak in my memory though.
Don't tell Jason I said this, but Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes, and sometimes Propeller, are really all the GBV I need. They have some great songs elsewhere and probably a million that are in the okay-to-pretty-good range but I don't have the time or the energy. Under The Bushes is generally considered one of their best albums but I have no idea why, Pollard obviously forgot to write any good songs that week. If you want something a little different from them, Isolation Drills is pretty fun basically mainstream rock (and "Chasing Heather Crazy" is a great single).
I think I suggested Bow Wow Wow for one of your lists but you can do Adam & The Ants instead if you want to - it's the same sort of thing and they didn't put naked 15-year-olds on their album covers, which is a plus.
I think all the pre-breakup Sleater Kinney albums are supposed to be good. Their first reunion album got reasonably good reviews but I've yet to hear a positive sentiment about their second.
