Handmaid's tale - no point in a longer rant now - in the age of immediate reaction, just about every review of the episode mentioned the idiotic implausibility of the whole thing, so there's no point in my repeating it all. It was just totally stupid...and LAZY. Because I'm sure there are less stupid ways for the same basic result to have occurred. But, if you need to actually have a bunch of ex-handmaids encircling Fred in the woods and stoning him, then yes: grossly irrational departures in logic and world-building had to occur for such a scene to occur.
But, that was just a particularly hideous example of a problem that has existed in the show since it moved past the source material. The possibility for something that stupid has existed for awhile.
