The Who-The Who Sell Out - great piece of psychedelic pop, one of my favorites.. the bonus tracks on the review only add to the greatness
Bob Dylan-Time Out of Mind - one of the better later albums from him
The Crickets-The “Chirping” Crickets - Doesnt sound like much nowadays, kind of just simple 50s pop but ahead of its time and one of the first really consistent and solid pop rock LPs.
The Beach Boys-Surf’s Up - Sunflower and Surfs Up are kind of interchangable to me quality wise but I think I prefer Surfs Up. More of a dark psych influence with 3 amazing tracks right at the end. One of the last gasps of "classic" Brian Wilson, if not the last.
The Kinks-Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) - One of my favorite Kinks albums. Very consistent collection of songs, great songwriting, some songs where they truly rock energetically more than they have before.
1. The Who - Sell Out
2. Beach Boys - Surfs Up
3. Buddy Holly - Chirping Crickets
4. The Kinks - Arthur
Def would like to hear more Fiona Apple. I don't care for MIA at all and honestly think shes obnoxious, but I'm open minded I guess. BIG is classic 90s hip hop but I can't say I'm familiar with any of his stuff besides his biggest hits. The Specials is on the list too.
And for some dumb reason I have a very small interest to check out some of the bigger Neo-prog bands just to see if they're worth wasting anymore time, so Marillion is on the list. Ken's post about Spocks Beard and offshoots was interesting.
