Fantastic album, doesn't have the same nifty atmosphere as ATLiens but the highlights are a little higher, "Spottieottiedopalicious" is wonderful and doesn't sound like anything going on at the time. Maybe a little filler in the middle but I love how it opens up in the back half, probably the best use of the CD bloat era. "Mamacita" might be the worst song on it but the guest verse from Witchdoctor is so terrible and deranged it's kind of compelling.
Among my favorite XTC, moderates some of their annoying tendencies and rocks pretty well, tons of great oddball guitar hooks. Looking at the tracklist i might be overrating it a little but the middle of the record is fantastic.
The Velvet Underground-The Velvet Underground
Nothing very interesting to say about this but it's real good! I find "Pale Blue Eyes" kind of boring but don't mention that to any girls I know.
Nick Drake-Bryter Layter
Maybe a little too pretty for my taste, the surrounding albums are more what I want from him, but certainly has some great songs. Might be more consistent than Five Leaves Left but there's no "River Man."
Idk this starts really nice and then I get a little tired of it. Shitty opinion of mine: I have no problem with meaningless words-as-sounds lyrics but a lot of time I don't really care for the words-as-sounds that Liz Fraser comes up with.
I don't know this as well as Toys in the Attic, really like "Sick as a Dog", but it feels a little more like Classic Aerosmith than TITA, which has more odd detours and poppy elements and is more appealing to me.
Animal Collective-Merriweather Post Pavilion
Think i listened to this as a whole once, I really can't stand "My Girls" but "Summertime Clothes" is nice. Feels did a lot more for me but I hardly ever feel like listening to these guys anymore.
