Dune - A mess. It's trying to turn Herbert into Star Wars and ending up with little more than an overblown knockoff. I agree that there are ways in which Lynch was *trying* to add some auteurism to the movie, but they're window dressing at best. Anytime you hear about the latest new critically acclaimed indie filmmaker or whoever being offered a chance to direct a big dumb summer action blockbuster, think of this film.
Ishtar - When I watched this last year I made it a point to read all of the IMDb external reviews and was dumbfounded as to how many defenses I found of this piece of s***. And this is another one. Did the reviewer just use "complicated" to describe this film? It's a stupid simplistic unfunny piece of action comedy trash with one funny joke in it ("thmuck") that would have barely ended up on HBO the next year. I get the tragedy in a talented female writer-director bombing with a $50 million blockbuster and that she faced a lot of obstacles making the film, but are there people writing similar defenses for Mannequin?
Jason X - This was pure garbage.
The Skeleton Key - It wasn't unwatchable but it was just another one of those goofy suspension-of-disbelief thrillers really with no real substance to it.
