The most influential educational theorist these days is Paulo Freire and his notion of "Critical Pedagogy". That's why you'll get math tests asking like "How have math been used to oppress".
And today that "dismantle oppressive systems" rhetoric is used exclusively by the Left. I can't recall hearing the Right use it for a long time. Remember a Marxist branch in Catholicism that was called "Liberation" Theology?
