I recalled liking Red Dragon when I saw it, but I was 19 when I saw it and it probably hasn't held up very well. You're not the first person to say Edward Norton blew it, and it's definitely cashing in on Silence style and memories; hell, I think Hopkins has basically admitted he was phoning it in at that point, wasn't he? I'd have to watch it again and I don't feel like it.
That said, even if it was a bit of a cash in, it's definitely a better movie than Manhunter, whose "it's better than Silence Of The Lambs and Brian Cox was better than Anthony Hopkins!!" fanboys have always really, really irked me.
