If Phair can come up with her second best album by lightly referencing or plagiarizing her first, I say go for it--her last three albums before Soberish were a critically reviled Avril Lavigne pastiche, a dull adult-contemporary album and a totally jokey toss-off. Back to the drawing board? Fine by me. I'm saying this well aware that the general Liz Phair narrative (Pitchfork hasn't helped with this) is "it was all downhill for her after 1993."
(I forgot that EIG now has a box set including the Girly-Sound tapes.)
