It was certainly ambiguous enough to not turn everyone away, and there weren't any follow up cases. Also Pitchfork gave the last Swans album a 7 point something and I assume will dutifully give 6s and 7s to them from now on. But it's clear that they won't get the same attention from now on. Which is nuts - I mean arguably The Seer and To Be Kind are the two most critically acclaimed rock albums of the decade. Iirc, not going to look into this, Big Thief is the only other recent rock band to get two 9+ albums from Pitchfork.
