Hard rock's not really my thing but even trying to play devil's advocate, it's hard for me to really see what's objectively supposed to be so special about this. Even megahit "Smoke On The Water" strikes me as a lazyass excuse for a song (decent riff but that's all there is- and yes I know the backstory/Zappa connection). I'm sure it sounded fresh at the time but now it just sounds generic and lame. So it seems like The Purp had a pretty negative influence and were at least partly responsible for the death of rock & roll. Yeah, I ####in said it
I guess maybe I should check out that Cars album too but TBH I mostly find the hits to be dull which doesn't really make me wanna listen to the album.
