Revisiting Bill Murray

Scrooged - Hadn't seen this forever. Oh man, this is dark for a "holiday" comedy. It works half the time, mostly because of Murray's patented jerkishness that most actors could not pull off and still be likable. Still, the ghosts of the past and present (Carol Kane!) are just annoying. The ending turns from horribly dark to incredibly happy too fast. Murray's confessional speech at the end is unconvincing and goes on forever. OTOH, Bobcat Goldthwait is hilarious as the fired, drunk TV exec who chases Murray with a shotgun while singing Christmas carols.
King Pin - Was pretty drunk when I rewatched this, so I should probably watch it again. The brothers really took the gruesome joke route on this one. I enjoyed some of the jokes, mostly about the bearded Amish folks (the women too!). And Woody, Randy and Bill were all convincing in their roles. Murray was especially effective as his perpetual prick (even though he's not in the movie that much). Still, at he end of the day, I only found this sporadically funny. Like all these guys' movies.
