I don't think Abraxas is bad, and possibly I was a little harsh on it based on a cursory relisten to about half of it. I just don't really know what to do with it - it's not an ambience that's either pretty enough or funky enough or hard-rocking enough for me to just want to hang out in it, and the songwriting is sort of an afterthought. And listening to guitar solos rarely excites me much.
I remember liking Caravanserai more but haven't heard it in decades.
