Winamp has one giant advantage over foobar2000 and has had it for years without an easy fix: Winamp gives the total time of a playlist. With Winamp you can just look at the bottom of the window when picking and paring tracks for a mix CD. In foobar you have to highlight a group of tracks and look at the bottom for the selected-tracks' timings. This is needlessly annoying and makes the process of turning a playlist into a CD more cumbersome and difficult.
So whenever anyone mentions Winamp my mind immediately goes to that.
That said, foobar2000 is endlessly customizable and you can make your very own "perfect" music player. Unfortunately that takes some minor coding that you have to learn, and the program has a big learning curve and bare-bones functioning absent said coding ability.
