I havenít heard Whispering Jack however I have heard this song Your the voice so many times. Sort of this singalong anthemic U2-ish song
Itís becomes Australia default ďinspirationalĒ themed song that is played whenever you want an uplifting song to promote your product. It also plays a lot around Election Day
Cold Chisel - East I havenít heard yet but this song Choirgirl is also massive
Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes (lead singer) are known as the Australian version of Bruce Springsteen. Sort of the working class hero
You Am I are sort of the Australian version of Oasis, a 90ís rock and roll revival group but more focus towards the Rolling Stones rather than The Beatles. I actually think Liam Gallagher quoted that You Am I are their favourite Australian band and they have supported Oasis in the past. Although I believe that You Am I lead singer was quoted to describe Oasis as lovely guys personally but ripped off artist. I donít like any song from that album but this is the most famous song
I donít really like the band apart from a single decent album (No.4) and occasional singles. Berlin Chair is probably my favourite You Am I song
Regurgitated Unit was an 80ís synth pop revival album in the 90ís and had a lot of massive hits in Australia. I guess living in an age of ďdiversityĒ it is a rare example of an Asian descent lead vocalist.
I do like the hit singles in the album but I canít say the album to be consistent and I donít like the album as a whole.
The two hit singles from the album
Song formerly known as
I canít say I like this song due to itís repetitiveness but I do have to point out this song ďI like your old stuff better than your new stuffĒ because the lyrics does capture the music nerd experience of disliking the new work of artist past itís prime and just listening to their old stuff. It sort of reach meta level considering that Regurgitator has toured and played the entire Unit album 20 years later which kinda proved the point that people like their old stuff better than their new material
I donít know Gurrumul at all and I should rectify this as indigenous music is a gap in my knowledge
