The Syn - Flowerman = Okay this one strikes me right away. This is great psych pop/sunshine pop. One of those should-be classics that I never even heard before. Has a really nice vibe and I like the melody/harmonies
Toyshop - Yeah "Flowerman" is better, but this aint bad. Nothing much stands out, except the sound is worse than "Flowerman". Can sort of hear a driving sound in there, with that thumping bassline that would def develop into Yes
St Valentines Massacre - hmm sounds kind of familiar. Maybe I heard this a long time ago. Not bad, fairly catchy tune, but average . Kind of Three Dog Night-ish, before they were a thing possibly
Magical Mixture - Averageish again but pretty good still. Cool guitar sound on this. Nice guitar solo
Wimple Winch - Very cool song, def one of the better ones here. I guess I can see the Battle Of Epping Forest comparison, still very steeped in psych/acid rock. Interesting composition and dark lyrics though. Possibly one of the heavier tunes of 1967 too, before heavier music came on the scene the next year (when Jimi Hendrix influenced the scene more)
Cosmic Trip - Does have a creepy sound, and a slightly chaotic thing going on. Or controlled chaos I guess. Definitely very interesting and one of the most notable of this list. I do like to smoke and put headphones on and get lost in stuff like this
John Bryant "I Bring The Sun" - Nice bit of sunshine pop on this little known single. I dig this one too. Could have had a stronger chorus maybe but still a good one
A New Generation - Police Is Here = Another good one. I like more orchestrated sound here. Like the last one, sort of generic but also sort of underrated too. A darkish sound within all the sunshiney harmonies that I like
Bee Gees - Very cool, nice rhythm and you can tell its the Bee Gees even this early on, mostly the lead vocals I suppose.
The Human Instinct - Environmentalist message I suppose? Kind of reminds me of "Dont Go Near The Water" from the Beach Boys, which would come several years later. Pretty cool song as well - catchy, peppy, has a good pace. One of the better ones as well
Plastic Aeroplane - interesting early Pink Floyd/Yardbirds/Doors kind of sound. Def one of the trippier ones of this list
Would like to hear that live version sometime. Maybe I'll try to track it down on soulseek or something. It is annoying when stuff is unavailable online when you'd like to share it with someone..
