Music Babble

Yeah tried to give that Family album a chance a few times but I think the vocals did turn me off at first. Or it wasn't interesting enough to me at the time. Not sure. I think it was before I really got into Gentle Giant too so maybe it wont be the same problem for me anymore. Definitely have to hear that again very soon. Have a fascination with that "from psych to prog" period and interesting to hear the transition from some bands like them or The Nice or whatever else.

XTC "Big Express" = Yeah was always hit and miss for me but I guess solid overall. I like a few of the goofier tracks a lot. "Shake You Donkey Up" is so ####ing silly and cheesy but its really catchy and one of my fave XTC songs. "All You Pretty Girls", "Wake Up", "World Over" were highlights for me too. "Train Running Low On Soul Coal" and maybe a few others sounded so plodding and tedious to me but they've grown on me over the years. A few of those demo versions on Fuzzy Warbles might have helped.

Oh yeah "Seagulls Screaming Kiss Her" is also pretty weird but I love that one too. Also one of my fave XTC tracks.

Been meaning to give Mercury Rev a listen but never was that interested besides seeing them mentioned from time to time.
