Ha, I always thought that lyric was "cleaner than the top of a washing machine" and thought it was rather dumb - the tops of the washing machines in my life have always been covered with a thin film resulting from the mixture of dust and traces of detergent. The actual one makes much more sense.
Anyway, I do think it's a highlight on the album.
