Monster is widely hated due to Peter Buck using a massively overproduced, overdistorted, overdelayed guitar sound and the band, now in their late 30s and 14 years into their recording career, acting like hipster youth kings of Lollapalooza. It sold 5 million copies, but probably 4.5 million of them were in used bins by 2000. I got a pristine CD copy with an unscratched jewel case for 49 cents.

"King Of Comedy" is a really good song, you might like that one. And at least hear "Circus Envy" for a laugh.
