Re: Favorite French-language music?
I'm pleasantly surprised by the amount of opera scores my library seems to have (dunno if they're vocal or full orchestral scores, but either will be fine) - I put Pelleas et Melisande (Debussy), Les Troyens (Berlioz), Samson et Delilah (Saint-Saens), Manon (Massenet), L'enfant et les Sortileges (Ravel), and Dialogue of the Carmelites (Poulenc) on hold. Couldn't get excited about Carmen and various other 18th/19th century things. That should keep me busy for a while anyway. Yeah, I'm taking a hodgepodge approach to my French - reading a Simenon novel, watching some French TV with French subtitles, dabbling in podcasts. I don't know how much it'll help, and I'm sure I'd be better off spending the same amount of time in a class or something, but this is probably more fun.
