I had Buffalo Springfield more in mind than the Byrds. Nowadays I've only ever heard two of their songs (one from a Yes cover) but I guess they were bigger in their time, and the Hollies, too: the only song of theirs I was familiar with before I had heard CSN and was seeking them out was "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress", but if they had several hits, OK. It's like how Fats Domino had like 50 charting singles: even if only a few ended up being widely remembered I guess you've got to concede that a record buyer at the time would have been more familiar. Wasn't Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere 1969 and Deja Vu 1970? I wasn't paying attention to when the singles were released.
