Are those figures including rereleases or something? The figures I always saw was $28 million for the budget and $26 million box office at the time.

And of course, E. T. from the same year made $359 million domestically, something I remember because back before about 2005 or so I actually found budget/domestic gross number crunching to be sort of fun in an OCD dorkus malorkus way.

Documentaries on the BR DVD sets claim that it was the laserdisc that helped build up the movie's fanbase. Er, maybe?
